7 Random Facts About Me ๐Ÿ˜‰

7:10 AM 12
Hey guys,
Thanks for always reading and engaging with my stories. You’re the real reason why I’ve not packed up this shop ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

Today, I will be revealing some bits and pieces about myself to you.

1. I love Agege bread ๐Ÿž
Notice that I didn't use the word "like". My love for bread started while I was still a little girl. I use to take bread and tea EVERY weekday. The funny thing about my love for bread is that I don't like premium bread ๐Ÿ™ˆ. All those Coconut bread, chocolate bread, yen yen yen doesn't work with me. I love them Agege-ish, roadside-ish ๐Ÿ˜‚ local ๐Ÿ˜‰
While I was still staying around Ijaiye axis, I use to buy Agege bread on my way back from work every day at Iyana-Ipaja bus stop. That's how much I love local bread.

2. I can't dance to save my life ๐Ÿ’ƒ
Please don't laugh yet. Everyone says I have a very good stature and  I have the physique of a dancer. But truth be told, I don't know how to make those moves. I can only shake my body while sitting down but once I'm up, forgerrit LMAO

3. I have a very strong gut feeling ๐Ÿ’ฏ
I am highly perceptive and have razor-sharp intuition. This does not mean that I know everything, and it does not mean that I am never wrong. But my instincts about people, events, and situations are usually spot-on. If it crosses my mind, that means it's 70% true.

4. I hate watermelon ๐Ÿ‰
How do you guys eat watermelon for crying out loud? That fruit is supposed to be banned. It's tasteless. It is not as sweet as the other members of the family. The likes of pineapples, bananas, and grapes.

5. I'm a workaholic ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ’ป
I love my job and I'm very passionate about it. Sometimes, I stay up all night to work and get things done. Other times, I fall asleep on my laptop.

6. I prefer my middle name "Onisofe" to my first name "Promise"
This is because each time I meet someone for the first time and say "My name is Promise", I get the "I thought that name is for guys" kind of look. And then I start explaining that Promise is a unisex name blah blah blah. Ejor call me Onisofe.

7. I'm very indecisive when it comes to picking what to eat ๐Ÿ™ˆ
One minute I want rice and beans, the next minute, I want pizza or shawarma. I'm that indecisive. So I want to have a food jar where I have notes of different food I like and I'd just pick any note when I'm unsure of what to eat.

Now that you know me a little more, tell me some random facts about yourself in the comment section.

Let's talk about Lagos Landlords, shall we?๐Ÿคท‍♀️

1:57 AM 9
Hey guys,

Welcome to my YouTube Channel๐Ÿ˜‚ Oh, sorry, I mean, welcome to today's episode of gbas gbos by Lagos Landlords ๐Ÿ˜‰

While I was still house hunting, I met different types of Lagos Landlords. I was just being welcome to the REAL adulthood and believe me, I became frustrated. You know, I don't know jack about house-hunting where I came from.

Back in the days, my mum would just say "your father is looking for house, we will soon pack out of this area" and one-week later, there a big lorry outside packing our stuffs to a new apartment. But now I was saddled with the responsibility of searching for my own apartment in a 'strange land'.

Finding an apartment in Lagos is like making your way through the eyes of a needle. There are several hurdles you have to surmount when prospecting for a decent place to lay your head in Lagos. In fact there have been cases where renters had to pay for what they exactly don’t like because they were left with no other choice (story of my life).
First of, let me give you a list of questions Lagos Landlords will ask you before they accept your rent:

1. Are you married?
They ask this questions for many reasons. Some of them believe that being married makes you responsible  hence why many single ladies claim to be married when house hunting. If you think your marital status has nothing to do with getting an apartment in Lagos, then you’re not ready to live in the city.

2. Where do you work?
They ask this question to know if you will be financially capable of paying the next rent๐Ÿ˜‚

3. What state are you from?
Lagos landlords ask this question to get insight based on their previous or current tenants. If he has had issues with someone from a particular tribe, it is most likely that he will not rent out to anybody from that tribe again.

4. Are you are Christian or Muslim?
I really don't know why they ask this question but it is what it is ๐Ÿ˜ถ

5. Why are you leaving your current apartment?
No, you are not applying for a job but Lagos landlords are worst than HRs๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

After you pay your rent, Lagos landlords will leave you to the apartment for a space of 10-11 months before you will seeing them again (when your rent is almost due). It's your job to fix leaking roof, broken pipes, everything damaged before you rented the apartment and remember, you still paid money for damages in your rent o like 20-30K.

Hahaha, Lagos landlords will humble you sha. Have you had any experience? Kindly share in the comments section.

Yaayy!!! I'm One-year Old in Lagos๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ‰

3:24 AM 10
One year Lagos Anniversary ๐ŸŽ‰

The last one year has been an EXPERIENCE for me. I still remember that email that scheduled me for an interview that changed my life entirely.

God has been SUPER GOOD to me.

I was speaking to a friend few days ago and he said I had a “soft-landing” in Lagos and I didn’t go through what an average JJC normally go through trying to find their feet in Lagos and I got to thinking; “did I really get a soft-landing after all this gbas-gbos Eko has given me?”

I had my own fair share of ups and downs in Lagos too. I remember how I use to “travel” from Ijaiye axis to Yaba everyday for 4 months and Ayobo axis for 1 and the half month before finally settling. I also remember how I got home one time by past 12am drenched and I still left for Yaba by 5am in the morning๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝ‍♀️๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝ‍♀️

Phew.!

Let’s not even talk about my house hunt journey and how I paid over 10 agents to help me get a place and ''nothing come out'' ๐Ÿคฃ

Abi it's the number of times they wasted my time and effort in inspecting seemingly worthless places that were ridiculously pricey?

God did favor me. I came into Lagos for an interview that turned into a two months training that metamorphosed into a 3-months internship and then a full time job.

I look back today filled with gratitude. Thankful that I took that major step of faith and grateful for all the opportunities it has offered me.

P.S: Forgive me for not blogging in the last months, work has been quite overwhelming and I needed some ''me'' time to think and re-strategize. I think I'm back for now๐Ÿ™ˆ
