My First Week at DigifyNG Bootcamp

Being shortlisted for the DigifyNg 8-Week intensive Bootcamp is a dream come true for me. As the saying goes “the journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step” and this for me is the one step too many steps of greatness and better opportunity to come.
Read through my first-week experience.
Week 1 was a fantastic week for me at Hub. The joy of meeting 19 other young minds that share the same passion with me was exhilarating. The highlights of my week were the lecture sessions by seasoned facilitators.
On Content Marketing by Alex Asomba, I learned that marketing is getting people aware and this cannot be achieved without great content. Engaging content should be able to meet your client’s goal, meet your target audience and the text and visuals should be captivating.
Mr Victor did excellent with his session on Understanding Workplace Conduct and Behavior. I learned that one has to be well-mannered and considerate in dealing with others. By so, you create engaging, productive, long-term business relationships and become a success. He also shared top technology tips which I believe will come in handy each time I’m in a workplace setting.
Director of Client Service; Kantar Milward-Brown, Barene Jankovich-Besan’s session on 5 Things Research Has Taught Us About Digital Marketing was an eye-opener for me as it opened me into a broader view of advertising campaigns in Nigeria. My take-home point was “The end goal of marketing is RESPONSE”.
The session with Mrs Florence Atunwa-Olumodimu on Nigeria Digital Landscape and Case Studies was phenomenal. I learned about knowing the brand/clients’ objectives, knowing your target audience and knowing what your target audience connects to,
Knowing your personality type and how it affects your lifestyle is key to continuous growth. In Banke Alawaye’s class on Personality Type, Emotional Intelligence and Personal Effectiveness, I learned that growth is continuous and emotional intelligence is a skill to be cultivated as it helps you relates with others better. She ended the class by sharing tools for achieving personal effectiveness.
Human Resource Specialist from GAIN Ltd, Titilope Akinrele did a fantastic job while taking us on Digital Marketing: Job Descriptions & Relevant Skills for Employment. She explained in details the various job roles in digital marketing and the goals every digital marketer must drive. She also talked on relevant skills for employment which includes time management, communication, critical thinking to mention but a few. Her session rounded up with questions on CV Writing and Interviews.
The week rounded up with Seyi Omotunde taking us on Social Media Marketing using Facebook. He explained in details the customer journey from Awareness, Consideration and Conversion and the reason why Facebook is good for social media marketing. We ended the class by taking the Facebook Blueprint classes online.
Key Learning Point of the Week;
· Your goals for marketing should either be for brand awareness, increase traffic, lead generation or increase sales.
· Your audience is not everyone.
· For one to successful, you have to build relationships. No man is an island.
· To make a great first impression, you need confidence, competence, and credibility.
· The most informed you are, the better your level of confidence. Listen, learn and apply.
· The end goal of marketing is Response.
· Contents that evoke strong emotions are contents that have a lasting impression.
· Tracking clicks are not enough. Clicks are not co-related with brand impact.
· Your briefs are never about you. It’s about your target audience. So do well and always take surveys and ask them questions.
· Every brand has 2 target audiences. The primary and the secondary.
· Your personality evolves as you go through life.
· Growth is continuous and self-awareness is the starting point of growth.
· Digital marketing is so wide that they are specializations. Specialization can be an added advantage.
· Social media marketing is the fastest way today to send information. It is one of the most valuable skills employers are looking for from a digital marketer.
