Famous American Entrepreneur and Animator, Walt Elias Disney made a statement that totally captured my Week 2 at the boot camp. He said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths”.
The excitement of the boot camp didn’t stop at week 1. Trust me, it ushered us into week 2 with so many expectations and the expectations heightened as soon as I got the timetable of all our sessions for the second week.
Monday, 10th June started with a great session on Social Media Marketing by Alex Asomba. I always look forward to his class because I learn so much more than the learning objectives. He taught us about the Sales Marketing Funnel, the Benefit of Social Media Marketing and creating a good Social Media Strategy. I also learned about the job roles of a Community Manager and a Social Media Manager. The class ended on a nice note as he shared various tools of productivity for both Community Management and Social Media Management.
Personal Branding class by Mrs.Florence Atunwa-Olumodimu was outstanding. She shared quotes made by notable people about branding. My best was that of Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, he quoted “Your brand is what people say about you when you are not in the room”. Your brand is a promise of value. It has to do with value and values. I also learned the 4 P’s of the Marketing Mix and how to rock your personal brand. The lessons of this session will stick in my head for a pretty long time.
Having the Chief Creative Director of TBWA Agency Mr. Ranti Atunwa to take us on Developing a Creative Strategy on Tuesday was the highlight of my 2nd week. His session was phenomenal, educative and interactional. He taught us about the Advertising Process, what a creative strategy should do and how to interpret creative strategies. The session was one-of-a-kind as we watched different ads and explained what we understood about them and how their ideas resonate. He ended his session by challenging us with a live brief to be presented on the last day of the week.
Gallup Certified Strength Coach, Mr. George Enema was at the hub later in the evening to give us a class on How to identify our Strengths for an Accelerated Career. He encouraged us to focus on using our strengths while working on our weaknesses as we apply our greatest talents and strengths to our everyday lives.
Wednesday was a free day as we marked Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
Thursday started out great with Mr. Ayo Olatunji’s session on Financial Literacy and Project Budgeting Development. He explained the 5 components of financial literacy and how to develop a good project budget.
Reputation is the number one selling point for any brand. Chineze Amanfo took a session on The Fundamentals of Online Brand Reputation Management. She explained that Reputation Management is the process of identifying what other people say or feel about you and your business, and taking steps to ensure that the general consensus is in line with your goals.
We took breaks after each class session to work on our live brief presentation. From taking vox pop, to voice-overs, creating slides and visuals, brainstorming on getting the BIG IDEA. It was an intensive week at the Hub.
The Live Brief Presentation kept me and my team members on our toes. Our Agency Tour to TBWA was fantastic. We received the warmest hospitality and reception and an opportunity to pitch our brief to the Team at TBWA.
WEEK 2 was remarkable. Looking forward to a new week with so much energy and excitement.
